    Micro-Switch retrofit for Main Gear

    Hello,

I am having my nose-gear switches replaced from mag/reed to roller-microswitches. Jimmy tells me that there is also a retrofit available for the main gear actuator. Has anyone has this mod done and do you have feedback? I am trying to decide whether to add that to my Annual Inspection tasks this Winter/Spring.

    Thanks.

Do them both. Saying this without understanding the costs involved.

Do you know Bret if Icon has moved to the new switches for the main gear?

Cost is 3-4 K complete for the mains per Jimmy if the annual is already going on.

I have to assume the design is based on what me an another engineer roughed out and prototyped for both the NLG and MLG in the one of the engineering planes 3.5 to 4 years ago. They didn't deviate hardly at all on the NLG design from what we did. If so then yes, they would install a metal bracket for the switches and then they would add a bracket to the main landing gear actuator pivot to allow stop bolts to be installed. They have to do a bit of rewiring as the reed switches are on the actuator and the microswitches are not. That all said I haven't seen the design for the MLG so I can't say for certain.

I’ve done both. Doing the mains is easier except for the fact that you must jack up the plane.
