    use of a personal water craft port

    Does anybody know if you could use a personal watercraft port or Jetroll? It would be great to come up to my cottage on Sodus Bay and roll it right up on one of these, getting the plane out of the water. There would have to be considerations of the front gear door, strength of the hull and the hull shape. The weight rating of these products would be sufficient.

    I just selected a 10’ wide Mobi-Mat (Made in France and sold in NJ). It comes in 16’, 33’, and 50’ lengths. Very easy to lay out on the beach and into the water. I then use a 20Volt Winch to bring the plane up the slope of the beach. Icon tells me the bow ring is rated to 1280lbs. Should be all I need. https://shop.mobi-mat.com/products/1...tramp-type-afx

    Has anyone figured out a way to dock the plane out of the water, with the wheels retracted?

    I have a modified hydraulic pwc lift that I got with the Icon, but the water level at my place is too low to use it. I think it needs at least 2.5 to 3 feet. Unless I want to place it 300 feet away, which I don’t.

    Did U see the modified Lawn chair that someone used on a beach? I assume they put weight on the tail and slide it forward. Does require at least 12 inches of water within 6 feet of the beach. I may try to dig a bit in the sand and use my wheeled PWC rack.

    It was on an instagram post of someone with an Icon going to the Bahamas and resting the plane on that lawn chair to prevent chaffing on the sand. I will look for it. Found it!

    Can’t see what the problem is with it. They allow regular boat lifts I’m sure. What is it sitting on?

    I got the design from the A5 owner whose plane is in the picture. Yes, they do allow regular boat lifts on my lake but there are very specific guidelines that have to be followed and any sort of lift not attached to the actual dock or boathouse was not allowed

    Do most owners store the plane only on land? I just thought that a good lift design would have been figured out long ago. My shallow water just makes it that much harder.

    Previous lake where I WAS going to build had the ridiculous regulation that IF you were going to store your aircraft on your shore property you had to have it put away in a hanger or other structure with doors closed and unable to be viewed from the shore within thirty-five minutes of engine shutdown.

    Yes it was - and, get this, if it was a helicopter you only had 25 minutes to put it away. BUT that stupid regulation is the primary reason I became interested in the A5. I WAS going to buy a Searrey (don't hate me y'all) but there was no way to fold those wings quickly enough to put it away in the RV/plane garage we were planning to build attached to the house.

    They did you a favor. Once they start with those crazy kind of rules, there is no end to it. It would only be a matter of time till the next rule would drive you crazy, to the point that you would have regretted ever living there in the first place.

    There is nothing wrong with a Searey. I still have one that I’m selling. I made a ramp to store it on. I’m afraid to do the same with the Icon, because of the gear doors. Wouldn’t take much to damage those doors.
