Best product for exhaust residue on cowlings

    Hi All,

I think I've met everyone on this forum, but if not, I'm Daniel Crawford and I manage the Tampa service center for ICON Aircraft.

Just thought I'd chime in with a new product that we've been using that has worked way better than any other product that we've tried over the years to remove that stubborn exhaust residue. We are using the "Aero Cosmetics Wash All Degreaser". It cuts right through that residue and leaves a nice clean surface. Actually, the entire kit has been great. It contains a soft, scotchbrite-like scrubber that works great for bug removal (without damaging the paint), the waterless wash and wax, degreaser, and a really nice extendable scrubber which is great for the top of the wings.

    Link for the kit- https://www.amazon.com/Aero-Cosmetic...1415900&sr=8-6

Great recommendation Daniel, will give it a try.

I have been using the Starbrite Black Stream Remover with good success so far.

Thanks, Daniel. I have a gallon jug of the Wash ALL dry wash/wax which has been great for cleaning the majority of the plane.
It's very Karate Kid with a microfiber in each hand and Wax On/Wax Off.
For the cowling and prop, I've had good luck using Clorox heavy duty wipes, especially on 100LL residue, but will definitely give the degreaser a shot.

A Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works well.

Thanks Daniel! Trying it this week-end! Stay tuned. my girl just had 35 hours of 100LL so she looks awful. Will take before and after pictures.
