Importance of cowl plugs...
My Icon sits in a shade hangar, with the Bruce canopy cover but I don't typically use the engine cover. I had not been out to the plane for a month, and when I went to start nothing happened. Good voltages. Took the cowling off to start to investigate, and to much surprise an animal (squirrel?, birds?) has chewed through several cables, hoses, and cable ties!
Looking at the oil line I am really glad the engine didn't start! My only saving grace is that Engine Hoses were due for replacement next month anyways, but looks like I need to buy a new wire harness as well.
Going to make a custom engine plug and use that religiously going forward.

Oof that sucks. Funny enough the oil line would be fine its just the silcone dipped coating to heat and fire protect it. The wires, that just simply sucks. Sorry that happened to you. I think I have seen it all, you all prove me wrong regularly. haha.

Here is what I hacked together for now, out of a foam exercise pad.

Wow... That hurts. I had both my old Mini Roadster and my new Porsche wiring chewed by a squirrel... Thank god for Comprehensive insurance. I hope you can get a harness without issues (Lockwood hopefully and not Icon Corp.)
