So very sad. I was fortunate enough to meet Kirk in 2016. Rest in peace.

One of the best days I had flying my A5 was with Kirk and Tracy (above comment) flying around Lake Powell in 2023. Kirk was an incredibly talented pilot and the formation flying we were able to do with our 3 A5’s was something I will never forget.
He was a great guy and always made time to talk when I reached out with A5 questions.
    He will be missed.
    Rest in Peace my friend.

So sad. What a great guy and visionary. And a ton of fun to fly with. He will be missed.

I was bummed to hear the news. Wish I could have met him but I came into the ICON family too late.

I still remember meeting Kirk 5 years ago in S Carolina when I was getting my initial A5 training in my plane. He was passing through and asked if he could borrow my A5 to scatter his mom's ashes on a nearby lake. Unfortunately mine had just been grounded for a separated MLG boot - but fortunately another A5 owner, Bob Butler (RIP), had his A5 there as well as was able to accommodate him. Super nice guy and he was extremely interested in how the boot had separated on my new A5.

    Why did you boot separate?

My instructor and I had just landed from a training flight on Lake Greenwood and found it. We had noticed that the purge bilge light was on every time we lifted off the water and every time after landing on water. We cut the sortie short and headed back to the airport for land ops. Upon inspection we found the sealant had completely separated from the rubber at the top of one side of the MLG. Took several weeks to fix it and then the same thing happened to the other side about a year later.
