New Engine Oil for 912iS
Apparently ROTAX and Lockwood now recommend the XPS 5W-50 synthetic oil over the SHELL Sport Plus 4 RON 424 SAE 10 W-40. Lockwood is recommending at next oil change to convert to new oil. Anyone else hear about this?

I have not heard. My engine burns so little oil I still have several Sport Plus 4 bottles left from a bulk buy I did in 2019... Anyone know what the shelf life is, considering they are plastic bottles?

I was on the phone with Lockwood and we were talking about it because I was placing an oil order. The person I was talking to said that it is a new guidance from Rotax, and Phil Lockwood just telling folks with the 912IS and the 914IS to start using the Synthetic in the white bottle and stop using the aeroshell oil in the red bottle. I have not seen any official release, wonder if anyone else has ?

Thanks!
looks like the last post sums it up:
YES It is fully approved for all Rotax with the release of the latest SI on fluids. Download the SI for the data. This oil also is approved for both Mogas and Avgas and Rotax created a new internal validation "RON 451" for that purpose. The Shell is still on the list but Rotax will stop direct supply and switch to the XPS. Shell supply via Rotax will go on as long as the distributors have stock. Shell will then be the only supply of the Sport Plus 4.

Interesting that Rotax recommends the XPS 5W-40 in SeaDoo watercraft - which I’ve been able to buy on Amazon. I don’t see the XPS 5W-50 on Amazon. ?
