Nose Gear
Had my first weird situation. Water taxiing at 4kts, I lowered gear handle to do controllability test before ramping. Gear stayed in transit. I cycled, and tried a quick step taxi to try and clear possible debris. Nothing. Then I looked at 7.5amp fuse and it was blown. Replaced and it worked fine. Post flight A5 mechanic inspection said all looked fine (and walkaround prior did not even show any issue). I remember there being an issue in older ones, but didn't expect it.
Moral - always keep your finger on the up or down ICON until you get what you want. Saved me from scraping on the ramp. -

The gear is one of my biggest fears with the A5. So many updates and revisions, has made me lose confidence. On the other hand, I’m glad that Icon is still working to perfect the plane. My attention is glued to the gear every time I raise or lower it.

I keep extra 7.5s on board in addition to the spares on the overhead after this happened twice to me. After both occasions I jacked it up and did swing checks on all the gear (although it was just the nose giving me issues) but couldn’t find any obstructions and rigging was good. Go figure …

I had a similar situation and although I can't verify this, I wanted to add it to the thread.
I retracted the gear when taxing very slowly (probably under 1 knot) and blew the fuse. I suspect it was because the nose wheel did not spring back to its aligned position and when it retracted, it hit the stops. I now ensure I am taxiing at 3 knots or so before retracting the gear. And a side note: this was before the nose gear limiter changes and it bent the actuator. Lucky me. -

I agree with your emoji! The thought of having to replace a fried wire because too much current was passed through it gives me $$ nightmares! I think I would suck them all up, take off, try to drop the gear while in a tight turn for a bit more Gs. If successful proceed to a strip nearby. Just my 2 cents…
