Is this still on the radar of anyone? I have a good bit of experience with GA flying down in the Bahamas and would be interested in getting a group together to do this. I took an A5 to Bimini a couple weeks ago. Easy trip but I think the good stuff is a little further in and all. Happy to help put this together if there is any interest. There has been an increase in fees recently at MYBS for anyone heading that way soon.

I will create a Potential list of Aircraft/Pilots that have shown an interest and send each of you a DM late August or early September to confirm. We will need at least one or two pilots who have experience with this trip to avoid goofs. What are people's thoughts on reserving a block of rooms in a seashore resort? Maybe two or three nights? Looking for input. Thanks.,

Hi Michael. I have a good amount of experience flying GA to the Bahamas and all. I took my A5 to Bimini a few weeks ago and that might be an island to skip this round. Reach out when you think a good time will be to catch up. My number should be in a previous email between us.

08-28-2025, 12:32 PM #49I am still very interested in this trip. Please email me when you guys figure something out. I just need to the dates to commit. I have 225 hours so a fairly new pilot and wouldn’t do this without an experienced group. I can’t imagine how much fun this is going to be. I live in Houston. [email protected]

Bahamas
Sounds like a great idea, still considering it? I was in the group of the first LSA allowed into the Bahamas in 2013 before that it was not legal. Flew the SeaMax. We went over with Plane and Pilot Magazine and they did a cover story on it. We spent 3 days in Bimini which is very close to FL but at the time was a big trip for me coming down from NY. I fly a Cirrus to the Bahamas often now but would love to take the A5 provided we can get good fuel.

I flew to the Bahamas on the ICON about a month ago and even made a video of the trip. If you need any tips on the procedures, happy to share.
P.S. Technically you’re supposed to get CAA permission for water landings. I tried 5+ times — no luck. The guy in charge never replied. I called, emailed, even talked to his colleagues who promised to pass my request along… still nothing. Honestly, I don’t know how they expect to control water landings if nobody ever answers. Just something to keep in mind.
