It Was a Very Good Year — Icon Is Back on Heading with Their A5 LSA Seaplane

    Positive article on this blog:

Some might say Icon Aircraft has experienced a rather turbulent flight. The company came off the starting line boldly with splashy marketing including an immense, fancy tent right at the entrance to AirVenture. Each year at Oshkosh, the company hosted an annual party with special features and free drinks. It became a must-attend event for those lucky enough to get an invitation.

Good to read this - especially after my wife got a text from an old friend last night that Icon had ceased operations. I know the possibility of bankruptcy has been rumored several times in the past - so this has me thinking about what our options are for maintaining/repairing this aircraft IF they ever closed up. Thoughts?

We don't have any insight to their cash position, but I would _assume_ they would do a Chapter 11 and restructure the company rather than cease operations.

If the company goes away I would personally convert my plane to an E-LSA, effectively turning it into an experimental. I did that with my S-LSA Carbon Cub years ago.
